Emergency Relief Support Program in Support of Drought Affected People in Borena Zone

As one of the strongest and leading National NGOs which is actively involved in the major humanitarian and development programs in Ethiopia since its establishment in 2012, Action for the Needy in Ethiopia (ANE) successfully managed the distribution of emergency food assistance for the total of 1200 drought affected Households in Borena Zone Administration, Oromia.

During the assistance distribution conducted on the 6th of January 2022, ANE was able to provide a total of 60,000 Kg of Maize, 20,000 kg of Supplementary Corn soy blend food (CSB) and 6,000 liters of cooking oil by allocating 5 Million Birr from its internal resources. Each vulnerable household was provided 50kg of Maize, 25 kg of CSB and 5 liters of cooking oil...... The current drought situation in the Borena Zone of Oromia region appears to be very high as it is affecting the well-being of the local population whose thousands of cattle have died and other means of livelihoods are compromised.

The emergency food assistance distribution conducted by ANE was attended by H.E Mufti Haji Omar Idris, the President of Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council and head of the Fatwa and Da'wa Councils, H.E. Under its enhanced humanitarian and development assistance programs, ANE continues to reach out millions of refugees, internal displaced persons (IDPs), drought affected people and other vulnerable populations in Ethiopia.
